Ahnentafel Chart for TABITHA PETTY

To read this type of ancestral chart, double the number of the person to find that person's father.
For example, #3's father is #6, whose father is #12, whose father is #24, and so on up the line of generations. As I hit an end-of-line (dead-end) those ahnentafel numbers will drop out, although the other parents' numbers continue on. When I find more information eventually (hopefully!), I will plug the new names into the page into the correct place, with their ahnentafel numbers now visible.

First Generation

1. Tabitha PETTY was born 24 September 1839 in Anderson County, Kentucky. She died 26 February 1924 in Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois and was buried 28 February 1924 in Pinhook Cemetery, Fayette County, Illinois. SOURCES: 1870 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois, Woodberry township page 2, house 13 shows "Tabitha, age 30, female, white, keeping house, born Kentucky" 1880 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois, Woodberry township, Vol. 6, E.D.68, sheet 22, line 29 shows "Tabitha, white, female, age 41, wife, married, keeping house, born Kentucky, father born Kentucky, mother born Kentucky" 1900 Census of Fayette County, Illinois, Vandalia township Vol 86, E.D.27, sheet 9, line 66 shows "Tabitha, wife, born Sept 1839, age 60, born Kentucky" OBITUARY from the Vandalia Leader or Union gives father's name, date & place of birth, marriage & children information. Says all ten siblings preceded her in death, and that she taught school in Red Bud, Iowa. TOMBSTONE. I have a photo of it.  Tabitha married James W. SCOTT, son of Redmond SCOTT and Charlotte FARIS on 20 December 1864 in Anderson County, Kentucky. James was born 2 June 1837 in Washington Count, Kentucky. He died 4 July 1917 in near Pinhook, Otego Township, Fayette County, Illinois.

Second Generation

2. Samuel Briants PETTY was born about 1780; of Anderson County, Kentucky. He died after 1839. Samuel married Tabitha BUNTAIN in 1813 in Kentucky. SOURCES: 1830 census of Anderson County, Kentucky shows male, 2-0-2-0-0-0-1 and females, 0-2-0-1-0-1. Although the man is shown between 40/50 years old, I would surmise that he is closer to 40 and she is closer to 40 also, shown between 30/40 years old. Four boys and three girls are shown with them. His daughter Tabitha's obituary states that she was one of eleven children of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Petty of Anderson County, Kentucky. Living nearby is a James PETTY and a name that looks like Rollham PETTY.

3. Tabitha BUNTAIN was born about 1785; of Anderson County, Kentucky. She died after 1839.

Descendants of SAMUEL BRIANTS PETTY

To read this genealogical register of descendants, look at this example:

+ 10 M ix. Berrey Guffey was born 27 February 1860 and died 9 November 1935.

The plus sign (+) means he has descendants, so you will find him and his own family of children later too, with even more info about him listed there, just look for the 10 again later in the list. Then you see his own "ID number (10)" then whether or not he is "male (M) or female (F) (U=unknown gender)" and then the Roman numeral means "which number child he is, within his siblings." He is the 9th child born in that family. i=1    ii=2       iii=3      iv=4       v=5      vi=6     vii=7      viii=8   ix=9   x=10   xi=11 and so on. If there are no + signs, it means that either that person had no children, or I don't have any information about any children (and I would like to know some!)

First Generation and their children.

1. Samuel Briants PETTY was born about 1780; of Anderson County, Kentucky. He died after 1839. Samuel married (1) Tabitha BUNTAIN on 1813 in Kentucky. Tabitha was born about 1785; of Anderson County, Kentucky. She died after 1839.

They had the following children:

Second Generation and their children, going downwards

11. Tabitha PETTY was born 24 September 1839 in Anderson County, Kentucky. She died 26 February 1924 in Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois and was buried 28 February 1924 in Pinhook Cemetery, Fayette County, Illinois. SOURCES: 1870 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois, Woodberry township page 2, house 13 shows "Tabitha, age 30, female, white, keeping house, born Kentucky" 1880 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois, Woodberry township, Vol. 6, E.D.68, sheet 22, line 29 shows "Tabitha, white, female, age 41, wife, married, keeping house, born Kentucky, father born Kentucky, mother born Kentucky" 1900 Census of Fayette County, Illinois, Vandalia township Vol 86, E.D.27, sheet 9, line 66 shows "Tabitha, wife, born Sept 1839, age 60, born Kentucky" OBITUARY from the Vandalia Leader or Union gives father's name, date & place of birth, marriage & children information. Says all ten siblings preceded her in death, and that she taught school in Red Bud, Iowa. TOMBSTONE. I have a photo of it.

Tabitha married (1) James W. SCOTT, son of Redmond SCOTT and Charlotte FARIS on 20 December 1864 in Anderson County, Kentucky. James was born 2 June 1837 in Washington County, Kentucky. He died 4 July 1917 near Pinhook, Otego Township, Fayette County, Illinois. SOURCES: 1850 Census of Washington County, Kentucky page 151 line 29 house 298 shows "______ Scott, age 14, male" This is very hard to read, but I believe this is James. I need to do more research on this to find better evidence. Other children in this family have same names as James's future children, & this family moved to Illinois to the same township, living four houses away from James in the future. 1860 Could not find Scotts in census of Cumberland County. 1870 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois, Woodberry township page 2, house 13, shows "Scott James, age 32, male, white, farming, worth $150, born Kentucky, cannot read or write" 1880 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois, Woodberry township Vol. 6, E.D.68, sheet 22, line 29 taken 14 June 1880 shows "Scott James, white, male, age 45, married, farmer, born Kentucky, father born Kentucky, mother born Kentucky" 1900 Census of Fayette County, Illinois, Vandalia Township, Vol. 86, E.D. 27, sheet 9, line 66 shows "Scott James, white, born June 1837, age 62, born Kentucky" shown with wife & three children. Also obituary from Vandalia Newspaper. Burial source: tombstone. I have photo of it. NOTES: He moved to Illinois immediately after his marriage. Bought land on 15 October 1895 in Fayette County, location Avena township Section 26 NW NW 40 acres and SE 40 acres.
